I don't deal much with prior authorization, thank god. I'm IR, so much of what I do is either inpatient, or accepted reimbursable outpatient treatments.
I've been dealing with a denied prior authorization for a CT scan all day. The scan is to follow up a procedure I performed, and it's pretty f'ing necessary. As I documented ad nauseum in the notes. The notes I provided to the insurance company. And now, after it being denied (on the day the patient had the CT scheduled), the company I'm dealing with says they aren't delegated to deal with appeals for the actual insurance company, and I have to start this process all over.
Anyway. I was pretty left leaning before this. Now I'm full blown social medicine. Fuck insurance companies.
